| CARLOS RODON - COLLEGIATE BASEBALL & ACC PITCHER OF THE WEEK |
March 04, 2013 Carlos Rodon has been selected National Pitcher of the Week by Collegiate Baseball and ACC Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week. Rodon allowed two hits and struck out a career-high 16 batters in seven innings of the Wolfpack's 2-1 win over Florida Atlantic on Saturday. The Holly Springs, N.C. native exploded out of the gate by striking out eight of the first nine batters he faced. The first time through the Florida Atlantic order, the Owls only managed to put one ball in play, a bunt attempt in the top of the first. Rodon took a no-hit bid into the sixth, where it was broken up by a one-out single to left. Rodon followed with his 15th strikeout, which briefly stood as his career high. Two batters later a two-hopper squirted through the right side to represent only his second hit allowed in his last 55 batters faced. Rodon followed that hit by punctuating his performance with his 16th strikeout of the game. |
| CARLOS RODON - COLLEGIATE BASEBALL & ACC PITCHER OF THE WEEK |
February 25, 2013 Carlos Rodon was selected National Pitcher of the Week by Collegiate Baseball and ACC Pitcher of the Week. Rodon worked seven near-perfect innings as he combined with freshman reliever Karl Keglovits to throw the Wolfpack's first no-hitter since 2005. Rodon struck out a career-high 14 batters in a 5-0 win over La Salle while walking just one over the first seven innings - fanning the last six batters he faced. Keglovits pitched a perfect eighth and ninth in his first collegiate appearance to nail down the no-hitter. Since giving up a fourth-inning home run to Appalachian State's Preston Troutman on Feb. 15, Rodon has faced 31 batters without allowing a hit, striking out 16. The All-American from Holly Springs, N.C., retired 28 of the 31 men he faced in that span, walking two. The other reached on an error.
